While it’s been possible to extend your cruise with land packages and or even more than one cruise, two river cruise lines recently launched 46-night journeys moving from one river cruise to another, with departures in 2023.
AmaWaterways launched their cruise as a summer sailing initially and saw such high demand that they added a spring, and more recently, a fall sailing. These journeys include fourteen countries, seven rivers, and specially curated itineraries for each season.

You’ll be whisked over to Lyon, where you will sail the Saône and Rhône rivers into the heart of Burgundy and Provence. The Autumn sailing begins on August 24, 2023. This mesmerizing 46-night sailing celebrates the rich culture of fourteen fascinating countries enveloped in all the season’s color-changing glory as you stroll, bike and hike to cherished castles, cathedrals, and monuments.
